From the 15th to 17th May, 2017, the University of Parma and the Faculty of Information Technology at the Islamic University of Gaza (IUG) organized a workshop on the preparation of the training and teaching materials relevant to the open access institutional repositories, with the participation of ROMOR project coordinators in the Palestinian and European partner universities. The workshop was held at the Faculty of Engineering at the University of Parma and the Faculty of Information Technology at the Islamic University of Gaza via WebX service. It was held after the completion of the needs assessment and identification activities of the Palestinian higher education institutions in the field of research output management.
On the first day, the workshop expatiated the vocational training programs targeting the administrative and technical staff in the IT departments, libraries and scientific research at the Palestinian partner universities. The topics and training courses that will be delivered by the European partners to the Palestinian partner universities were discussed. Moreover, the times of the workshops and the mechanisms to be followed during the training process were also identified.
On the second day of the workshop, the teams approved the standards of academic teaching courses that will be presented in the Palestinian partner universities, both at the bachelor and master degrees. Furthermore, the mobility package, which will benefit students and staff members at Palestinian partner universities, has also been discussed with European partner universities.
The third day included discussion of some administrative details of the times and places for the project coordinators meetings in the partner universities, in addition to the mechanism of organizing the periodic reports that are required to be prepared by the project team.
